Grew up in Washington DC's colorful punk scene and at one time, was bassist and singer for 2 punk bands.
Became a member of two punk music bands when she was young.
Alexandra Tydings is the daughter of Joseph Tydings, former U.S. Senator from Maryland (1965-1971) and his second wife, Terry Lynn Huntingdon Tydings. Alexandra is granddaughter of Millard E. Tydings, former U.S. Representative (1923-1927) and U.S. Senator from Maryland (1927-1951). Alexandra is also the great granddaughter of Joseph E. Davies, first Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission (for President Woodrow Wilson), US Ambassador to the USSR, Belgium and Luxemburg (for President Franklin D. Roosevelt). By virtue of Davies' second marriage, Alexandra is also the step great granddaughter of Marjorie Merriweather Post and step niece of Dina Merrill.
Attended high school at the Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C.
Alexandra Tydings has four half siblings from her father's first marriage: Mary Campbell Tydings Smith; Millard E. Tydings, II; Emlen Tydings; and Eleanor Davies Tydings. Alexandra also has one half sister from her mother's first marriage: Paige Crowly.
