Some Facts
The movie Network (1976) is partially based on her.
Played The Mufti in a high school production of Moliere's The Burgeois Gentleman.
Shot herself on live television.
Her show, Suncoast Digest, was not normally a videotaped show, however per her insistence, they taped the show in which she committed suicide. As home VCRs were not yet on the market, the studio copy is the only copy of her suicide in existence. Her family successfully sued to prevent the tape from being sold or released in any way and it was then turned over to them along with her possessions.
Started a club at her senior girls' school called the Dateless Wonders Knitting Club, or DWKC.
Personal Quotes
[her last words] In keeping with Channel 40's policy of bringing you the latest in blood and guts, and in living color, you are going to see another first: attempted suicide.
