The narrator states that Tom meets Summer on January 8th. Since it is 500 days, Tom lets go of Summer (and meets Autumn) on May 23rd of the next year.

When Tom first enters Summer's apartment, the camera focuses on a bowler hat with a green apple on top of it. This resembles the famous painting "The Son of Man" by René Magritte, one of Summer's favorite artists.

Goofs
When Tom and his sister Rachel are sitting on the little stand. They're discussing Tom and Summer's relationship. Just before she leaves she has her left wrist over her right wrist but in the next shot she has her hands clasped.

On day 303 early in the film, Tom receives an e-mail from Summer that she can't meet that week and hopes that means he's ready to be friends. The e-mail is dated May 7, 2008. On Day 500, Tom awaits an interview and the narrator says it was May 23. This is inconsistent with the rest of the movie which seems to be set in 2006 and early 2007.

In the karaoke scene after Summer sings Sugartown the instrumentals are looped, but her voice is cut right after she starts singing the second verse, so we can hear the word "and..." but then nothing.

Quotes
Narrator: Most days of the year are unremarkable. They begin and they end with no lasting memory made in between. Most days have no impact on the course of a life.

Author's Note: The following is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely coincidental. Especially you Jenny Beckman. Bitch. 103 of 105 found this interesting Interesting? Yes No | Share this Share this: Facebook  |  Twitter  |  Permalink Hide options Narrator: If Tom had learned anything... it was that you can't ascribe great cosmic significance to a simple earthly event. Coincidence, that's all anything ever is, nothing more than coincidence... Tom had finally learned, there are no miracles. There's no such thing as fate, nothing is meant to be. He knew, he was sure of it now.
