Trivia
The sequence set at Ramstein AB, Germany, was filmed at Rickenbacker International Airport, Columbus, OH. Because the aircraft had to be visible even though the scene was supposedly taking place at night, a small amount of sky light was required; this restricted filming to two 15-minute intervals each day, at dusk and dawn.

Having Harrison Ford watch a Michigan football game is likely an in-joke, as the real President Gerald Ford went to Michigan, and TV news in the 1970's frequently showed clips of him watching Michigan games.

The production was allowed to use CNN's actual Los Angeles studio for its mock CNN segments.

Goofs
The document in the folder to invoke the 25th amendment is actually just the text of the 25th amendment. Section 1 is listed accurately; however, Section 2 of the document is actually Section 4 of the amendment. Also, if this was an actual document invoking the 25th amendment, it would need to be signed by a majority of the cabinet. However, the names and signatures of Defense Secretary Walter Dean and Attorney General Andrew Ward would have been listed as they had indicated in the movie that they would both sign the document.

Major Caldwell remarks that he cannot fly a plane, yet he clearly wears Command Pilot wings on his shirt. To be able to rate the wings, Caldwell would have had to be a military pilot for at least 15 years, with at least 3000 flight hours. Even if he was not rated for multi-engine aircraft like AF1, he would have definitely been more qualified to fly the aircraft than Marshall, whose experience is limited to helicopters and small single-engine aircraft from a period dating to the Vietnam War.

When Col. Carlton is telling Marshal how bad the damage is, his mouth under the mask is still moving after he has finished speaking.

Q
Why did Agent Gibbs turn rogue?
A
In the script, Agent Gibbs was a CIA spook who was angry at his country. He knew the terrorists from his CIA days, so they included him in their operation. This scene was considered too long to tell, so it was cut from the film.
Q
A Note Regarding Spoilers
A
The following FAQ entries may contain spoilers. Only the biggest ones (if any) will be covered with spoiler tags. Spoiler tags have been used sparingly in order to make the page more readable.
Q
What is 'Air Force One' about?
A
While returning U.S. President James Marshall (Harrison Ford), his wife Grace (Wendy Crewson), and daughter Alice (Liesel Matthews) from a diplomatic dinner in Moscow, Air Force One is hijacked by a group of 'Russian ultramodernist radicals' led by Ivan Korshunov (Gary Oldman). Although escorted safely to his escape pod, the President sneaks back into the plane and secretly works to defeat the terrorists, while Vice President Kathryn Bennett (Glenn Close) is forced to deal directly with Korshunov or he will execute one hostage every half-hour until their demands are met.
