The first in a trilogy of autobiographical films directed by Henry Jaglom. He followed this film with Someone to Love (1987) and New Year's Day (1989).
Patrice Townsend, who "plays" Jaglom's wife/ex-wife in this film, plays a scene early in the film with her own father Bud Townsend, a film director in his own right, who plays her own father.
This was filmed in the wake of Henry Jaglom's divorce settlement. It was filmed with Jaglom's ex-wife, who had left him two years prior, in the house they had lived in for all the years of their marriage, starring friends and family.
Party Philosopher: Life is like a stone: you rub it, you rub it. You go over these questions over and over. You rub and then you rub and then *just* when you think you're getting *this* much, you die!
