During the filming of the scene when Santee sets alight the gunman with a paint sprayer, Dolph Lundgren was so shocked by the sight of Andy Armstrong in flames that it delayed his timing for the rest of the shot. As a result, Armstrong got more than a little singed.

Roland Emmerich suggested composer Joel Goldsmith to Vic Armstrong after working with him on Moon 44 (1990). Armstrong and Emmerich worked together on Universal Soldier (1992) with Dolph Lundgren a year before this film.

Goofs
When Santee is drinking water obtained from the dug-out dirt, there is late evening sky in the background, but shots of coyote Santee observes while drinking are shot against night sky. Few seconds later, when Santee departs, the sky behind him is also pitch-black.

Q
How many different versions do exist of this movie?
A
Worldwide, there are several different versions of this action movie. In the USA exist two different versions. The Unrated Version was released by Artisan on both VHS and DVD, as well as by Live Home Entertainment on Laserdisc. The R-Rating as well as the runtime of 102 minutes on the cover are wrong. The second version was released on Blu-Ray and DVD by Shout! Factory and received an R-Rating. It is either called European Version or Director's Cut. Among the bigger differences between the two versions are an additional camera scene in the Unrated Version, an alternative final fight which is more action-packed in the Unrated Version, and an alternative ending.A detailed comparison between the Unrated DVD and the Director's Cut with pictures can be found here. The release situation in Europe is not too good. In Germany as well as the UK, the movie's Director's Cut was only released in a censored version on VHS; several violent sequences were cut out. The German audience, however, can buy an uncensored DVD which unfortunately has an awful image quality and is a mixture of both US Versions. The French VHS and DVD are based on the Unrated Version, however, three plot related scenes were shortened. The Dutch Version is equal to the Unrated Version, while the Danish Version is equal to the Director's Cut.A detailed comparison between the French and Unrated DVDs with pictures can be found here.
Q
What are the differences between the BBFC 18 Version and the German DVD Version?
A
Thus far, the action movie starring Dolph Lundgren has only been released on VHS in the UK. Unfortunately, this version had to be cut down in order to receive the BBFC 18 rating. Most of the missing scenes take place during the shootout in the warehouse. However, a few elements of the plot have also been cut out. Approx. 3 minutes are missing in the British Version. A detailed comparison between both versions with pictures can be found here.
