Trivia
In the original ending, maddened Dr. Berrisford does not go for the cop's gun, nor is he pushed. Instead, seeing that his plan has failed, he jumps from the top of the building to his death on his own. Some time later, Alex takes Cynthia to see the condemned house where Harris and others committed mass suicide and where she was found unconscious as the only survivor. She asks Alex to wait outside and enters the house alone. There she begins seeing Harris and other cultists (including her dead friends from the asylum). They welcome her and ask her to join them by killing herself with a dagger that Harris presents to her. He also confirms that she is his biological daughter and this is the reason why he won't leave her alone until she joins them - her "family". Cynthia seems to accept this and takes the dagger, but cuts and stabs Harris instead. He screams in pain and falls to the ground as other dead cultists begin feeling his pain and collapse as well. This ends the vision and Cynthia finally feels free. As she and Alex drive off, back in the house a skeleton hand is seen grabbing the dagger. Than the screen fades to black.

The set/house depicted early on as the cult house bears a remarkable resemblance to the family's haunted house in House IV (1992).
