Trivia
Paper (and photos, books, and even picture frames) in the series have corners cut off. It is said that director Michael Rymer did this during the miniseries as a reference to how he had to "cut corners" financially to make the miniseries work on a limited budget. The practice was continued into the series, although the producers have said on numerous occasions that although it seemed like a "neat idea at the time", having to cut the corners off every document seen onscreen became a nuisance for the weekly series.

Q
Do I need to see the TV miniseries before I see the series?
A
Yes. The miniseries sets up all of the events, characters, and themes of the series. The Region 1 dvd set has the miniseries packaged with the first season.
Q
What becomes of the characters after the end of series?
A
We know that Helo and Athena's half human/half Cylon daughter has at least one child of her own (from whom modern humanity is descended) and dies reasonably young, the archaelogists referring to her fossilized remains as that of a young woman. Galen is last seen heading for an area which sounds reminiscent of Western Europe, the area from which the ancient tribe of the 'Gaels' originates which suggests he may be its' founder. Ancient Greek myths utilise many of the names of the characters including Apollo (The Sun God) and Athena (Goddess of War and Wisdom) which suggests they may have been based on the actual story of the Galactica with the Greek region of Thrace deriving its' title from Starbuck's surname, Lee having promised she wouldn't be forgotten. Mankind adopts the names of the 12 tribes to identify various star constellations. The rebel Cylon Centurions are given their baseship with which to explore the galaxy and have been suggested as the source of UFO sightings if they periodically checked in on their human progeny. The fate of the non-rebel Cylons and all other characters is unclear.
Q
What is meant by the final scene between Starbuck and Lee and whose body was that in the crashed ship?
A
The ending suggests that the real Starbuck died when she crashed her ship on false Earth and that the person who returns to the fleet is some form of celestial messenger in her guise or has been allowed a little more life in order to fufil her role in humanity's prophecy. Hence she disappears whilst talking to Lee in the final scene because her role in the story is completed. Presumably Lee keeps his word that she will not be forgotten and the region of Thrace in Greece is named in her memory
