Beavis's laugh was inspired by that of a "nerdy straight-A student" Mike Judge knew from school. The student would sit in the front of class and laugh with a grunt while biting his lip.

The character "Tom Andersen" is the unrefined version of "Hank Hill", the central character of Mike Judge's other show, King of the Hill (1997).

Foothill High School in Henderson, Nevada was originally going to be called Highland High School prior to its completion. However the name was changed during production to avoid comparisons to the show.

When watching a Van Halen video with Sammy Hagar singing, Beavis and Butt-Head say something like "how could they fire Van Halen from Van Halen!?" in reference to David Lee Roth's parting ways with the band. However, David Lee Roth is NOT a member of the Van Halen family (though this may have been deliberate to show their stupidity.)

When the music video for the Power Station's cover of Get It On (Bang A Gong) was shown, the album it is from was incorrectly listed as "Electric Warrior." This song is actually from the Power Stations' self-titled album. ("Electric Warrior" is not a Power Station album, but rather a 'T. Rex (I)' album - the band who performed the song originally.)

Sometimes when Beavis and Butt-head are sitting in class you can see through their heads.

Beavis: Damn we're smooth.

Maxi Mart Store Manager: [seeing Beavis and Butthead reading at a porn magazine] Hey! Are you gonna stare all day or are you gonna buy something? Butt-head: Uh, I'm gonna stare all day huh huh.

Old Woman: [looking for her spectacles after losing them] What happened to my spectacles? Butt-head: Your testicles? Huh Huh.
