Trivia
In the scene where Gretta (Keira Knightley) and Dan (Mark Ruffalo) have dinner at a small café before Dan storms out, Knightley's mother Sharman Macdonald makes a cameo appearance as a customer at the table directly behind them.
Keira Knightley had to learn play the guitar for the role and her husband, musician James Righton, offered his help. However, according to Knightley herself, his lessons were atrocious for their relationship, and almost led to a "divorce and murder".
When recording the song on the roof Miriam is apparently recording or taking photographs of the session as you can see her walking around the band. About 40 seconds into the song she just appears behind the band only to disappear a few seconds later.
When Gretta and Dave are in the kitchen and listening to the song he recorded in LA the clock under the kitchen counter is at 9:45 at the beginning of the song but when Gretta is unplugging the speaker the clock is 11:38.
The songwriter on many of the songs is Gregg Alexander who scored big hits in the '90s with his band New Radicals. He was assisted in both efforts by Danielle Brisebois who started her career as a child actress on All in the Family.Alexander's distinctive voice and guitar sound can be heard on the two tracks on the soundtrack by Cessyl Orchestra.
