Longleat House, where much of the filming took place, is the country seat of the Marquis of Bath, who co-wrote the script under the name Alexander Thynne
Although filmed in 1973, this film received no British release until 1975, and then it had only a handful of bookings and the few reviews it received were unenthusiastic. It ended the brief film-directing career of novelist Andrew Sinclair.
