What is Tiffany's backstory?

Not much is known about her. She was Chucky's girlfriend when he was human. She found a ring that he took from one of his victims and assumed it was an engagement ring. She became obsessive in her search for Chucky. Finally finding out that his remains were in a police evidence locker she paid off an officer to get him for her. Setting up the events of the movie.

What's the gap time between this film and the first three?

At one point in "Bride", Tiffany tells Chucky that it took "ten years for me to find you", which is exactly the amount of time between the original Child's Play and Bride of Chucky. Child's Play took place in 1988, Child's Play 2 in 1990, and Child's Play 3 in 1998. Bride of Chucky happened a short time after Child's Play 3.
