The 3 December 1968 airing of this special on NBC came right after Elvis (1968) (both preempted "NBC Tuesday Night at the Movies"). But whereas the Elvis Presley special has passed into the annals of legend, the Bardot special remains largely forgotten.

Though this special did not attract the same ratings numbers as Elvis Presley's "comeback special", it still won handily in its time slot, capturing 75% of the audience viewing at that hour. Among the offerings trounced by this special was a CBS News interview with Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black in which he discussed the Bill of Rights with Eric Sevareid and Martin Agronsky; that program could only gather 7% of the audience.
