Albert Brooks revealed that when he first read the script, the scene where Aaron does a weekend broadcast simply noted "Something bad happens to Aaron on the air." Albert was watching CNN when a reporter he'd never seen before (and hasn't seen since) began sweating badly. Albert phoned writer/director James L. Brooks at three in the morning and stated that Aaron HAD to start sweating profusely.

Goofs
One of the anchormen asks for water at his desk. The Italian version mistranslates "I want Walter at my desk".

When Jane approaches the restaurant (to meet the gang for drinks), Tom and Jennifer start to come around the corner prematurely. They quickly backpedal and then come around on cue when Jane is closer.

When Jane is giving the cab driver direction to the bar to meet her co-workers after the special report, the directions make no sense. She says "Capp's Bar" is on 17th & Vermont. There is no 17th & Vermont, the two streets do not intersect. Also Jane says "take Connecticut over to 15th and then straight down Vermont and we should bypass Thomas Circle". Connecticut and 15th do not intersect and going straight down Vermont will take you right through Thomas Circle, not around it.
