Trivia
For the first time, Universal-International stopped using the effective but lengthy application time of make-up artist Jack P. Pierce for the monster make-up, using Bud Westmore and Jack Kevan's more cost-effective rubber appliances. The rubber head appliance that Glenn Strange wore to play the Frankenstein monster fitted him so tightly that, after a few hours under the hot lights, he could shake his head and hear the sweat rattling around inside it.

Originally the Mummy was to be included in the cast of monsters, but that idea was eventually dropped.

Bobby Barber was employed for the film as a "court jester". It was his job to keep the energy level up through a series of practical jokes and purposefully blown takes. Often when Lou Costello expected Lon Chaney Jr. to come through the door, Barber would run in wearing a hat and cape and immediately run back out. Bela Lugosi enjoyed Barber's antics as long he was not the victim. On one particular occasion while filming a scene in which the solemn and sinister Dracula descends a staircase he was followed by Barber, who imitated his every move. After the cast and crew burst into laughter Lugosi glared at Barber and yelled in his thick Hungarian accent, "We should not be playing while we are working!" and then stormed off the set.

Goofs
As the monster begins to sit up in the crate in the house of horrors after being revived by Dracula, you can see the monster make-up separate between his right eye and brow.

After being attacked by the Wolf Man at the masquerade ball, McDougal has a bandage on his neck the next morning when he is hunting for Chick Young, who he thought was the one who attacked him. Later that night, when McDougal finds Chick and Wilbur when the Frankenstein Monster is chasing them, his neck is not bandaged and has no visible injuries.

The placard that Wilbur reads to learn about Dracula in the museum is pristine in long shot, but creased and dented in close-up. The close-up was apparently shot after Wilbur bashed the sign against Dracula's coffin in the long shot.

Q
How many Frankenstein movies did Universal Studios make?
A
Universal Studios made eight Frankenstein movies, starting with Frankenstein (1931), which starred Boris Karloff as the monster. In Bride of Frankenstein (1935), the monster gets a mate. In Son of Frankenstein (1939), Dr Frankenstein's son Wolf (Basil Rathbone) revives his father's monster. The monster (Lon Chaney Jr.) is revived again in The Ghost of Frankenstein (1942) by Dr Frankenstein's son Ludwig (Cedric Hardwicke). The Wolfman (Lon Chaney, Jr) recovers the monster (Bela Lugosi)'s body from a block of ice and he is revived again by Dr Mannering (Patric Knowles) in Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1943). In House of Frankenstein (1944), mad Doctor Neiman (Boris Karloff) revives the monster (Glenn Strange) in order to exact revenge on his enemies. In House of Dracula (1945), the monster (Glenn Strange) is again found by the Wolfman (Lon Chaney, Jr) and revived by renown Doctor Edelman (Onslow Stevens). Many purists insist that the classic Universal Frankenstein saga ends here, but some also count Bud Abbott Lou Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948) in which Dracula (Bela Lugosi) and Doctor Sandra Mornay (Lenore Aubert) attempt to transplant Wilbur (Lou Costello)'s brain into the monster (Glenn Strange).
