The film had initially shot half way through with Mohanlal, Dilip and Vidya Balan playing the lead roles, and Kamal as the director and Ambazhathil Karunakaran Lohithadas as the script writer. When they stopped filming of this initial version, director, producer, writer and actors were giving different reasons why it got shelved.

Johny Sagarika released the songs composed for the initial version. The songs in the second version were pictured for the original songs, but 'Ambazhathil Karanakuran Lohithadas' couldn't use it in the movie, as the copyrights for the songs were with Johny Sagarika. So he had to compose new songs, which are much similar to the original ones, to use in the movie.

Ambazhathil Karunakaran Lohithadas decided to make the movie again by putting himself in the director's seat.
