Trivia
The mezzanine of a BMT subway station in Brooklyn was restored to its 1944 appearance for filming. The subway train consisted of vintage 1927-28 articulating Triplex units which had already been retired from revenue service at the time of filming.

Unlike its prequel Summer of '42, Class of '44 is more of a fictional work. There are several fictional elements in this film. One of them was that this film was supposed to be based on the boys facing army service in the Korean War. But it was changed to World War 2.

In the scene at the beach, roughly 15 minutes into the film, the boys are listening to a baseball game on the radio. The game is between the Brooklyn Dodgers (now L.A) and the New York Giants (now San Francisco). The announcer indicates that the score in Giants 5 and Dodgers 1 with Ace Adams pitching in the bottom of the 9th inning. The play-by-play goes on with the game ending with Giants 5 over the Dodgers with 4. When checking baseball statistics with all games between the two teams from 1941 to 1946 with Ace Adams pitching, there's no game that ends with this score. It's very likely that recordings of baseball games were not archived during this period, except for very important games and World Series games. The recording is very likely a recreation using names of players who were on these teams in 1944, but not an actual broadcast.
