Clive Owen took time out from Chancer (1990) to make Close My Eyes (1991).

Alan Rickman gets top billing on the credits and on the poster, despite not getting nearly as much screentime as Clive Owen, possibly because Rickman was known more to international audiences, due to his roles in Die Hard (1988) and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991).

Close My Eyes (1991) reworks many of the themes from Stephen Poliakoff's stage play 'Hitting Town.' There's still the plot of a torrid, brother/sister love affair, but it includes the upheaval of the London Docklands development, the late 80s recession, and the AIDS scare, which had just emerged out into the open.

When Natalie and Richard are fighting on the country lane, there is a rip in the right shoulder of her jacket. When they get back to the party, the rip has gone.

Natalie: I love you.

Sinclair: Something tells me its the end of the party.

Richard: Come into the church and feel no guilt... come on, I dare you!
