Like the successful "Hairspray", this John Waters movie was turned into a Broadway musical, with all new songs. Unfortunately, it ran for just under two months (April 24 to June 22, 2008). John Waters was involved as creative consultant.

Q
What are the differences between the Theatrical Version and the Director's Cut?
A
Besides the original theatrical version there also exists a Director's Cut which was released on DVD. Even though the Director's Cut doesn't really add anything to the plot (it neither develops the Rock'n'Rollers (Drapes) nor the "Squares" any further), one should still rather choose the extended version. Fans of the movie will enjoy every single additional second. In total the Director's Cut features more than six minutes of new footage. A detailed comparison between both versions with pictures can be found here.
