Some of the camera crew would wear plastic sheeting during the filming of some of the gorier scenes, due to the amount of fake blood flying around.

Some of the trucks outside the mall are from the same company, B.P. Trucking, that loaned them to the production of the original 1978 film.

Goofs
In the beginning, when Ana falls into the bathtub, the rod that holds the shower curtain falls across her lap. In the next shot, it is to her left, not across her lap at all.

When Luda is giving birth the shot switches between close-ups of Andre and Luda's faces. During one of the close-ups of Andre a cameraman and his camera are visible over Andre's right shoulder.

The call letters for the Milwaukee, WI television station covering the zombie attacks shown on the monitors in the mall were KBEX. The call letters should've started with a "W." For the most part, stations west of the Mississippi begin with "K" and stations east of the river begin with a "W" (like WGN in Chicago and WTMJ in Milwaukee). This mistake is also evident during the opening credits on the sign behind the news anchors and on the microphone of the on-location reporter. However, there are some exceptions to the "K-W rule"; KDKA, the first commercial radio station in the US and its TV affiliate, KDKA-TV, are in Pittsburgh (the rules for naming stations came later). Some stations in cities located on the Mississippi river (such as Minneapolis-St. Paul MN) may have their physical facilities on the "wrong" side of the river. However, all stations broadcasting in Milwaukee start with "W".

Quotes
Andy: [only on the DVD extra "The Lost Tape: Andy's Terrifying Last Days Revealed"] I tossed a fucking Molotov. Not good. For one thing, it don't do shit. It just burns for a while and leaves them all grilled and smelling like Jimmy Dean! And now I'm really fucking hungry!

Terry: I wish somebody was working Hallowed Grounds.

Steve: Whoa, whoa. Wait, wait, wait. I'm sorry. Why does he stay here while I go on the suicide mission to rescue Terry's already-dead girlfriend?

Q
What song is featured in the film's original teaser trailer?
A
The song is "It's a Wonderful Life" by Sparklehorse.
Q
What are the differences between the theatrical version and the Unrated Version?
A
The remake of the cult-horror-film "Dawn of the Dead" was released on DVD in a longer version. This version shows, additionally to new plot-scenes, also several violence-scenes, which had to be cut for the theatrical release in the USA. A detailed comparison between both versions can be found here.
Q
How does the movie end?
A
The fortified bus makes it to the marina with hordes of zombies closing in from behind. As the group hurries down the dock to get onto the boat, C.J. remains behind to cover them. One by one, the zombies climb through the rear door of the bus and C.J. shoots them. He tries to get out through the door at the front of the bus but finds that it's jammed. 'Figures,' he says. He reloads his gun and fires a bullet into the propane tank, causing a huge explosion. The resulting fire keeps the zombies from following the rest of the group out on the dock. Ana, Nicole (Lindy Booth),Terry, Kenneth, and Chips the dog climb aboard the boat. Ana holds out her hand to help Michael aboard, but he shows her the bite on his arm and says that he's going to stay behind 'and enjoy the sunrise.' He kisses Ana's hand and gives the boat a shove out into the water. As the boat moves further out, he puts his gun under his chin and pulls the trigger while Ana watches sadly.
