During location scouting, Gregg Zehentner and Scott Barkan happened upon many nude photo shoots. They claim this was a deciding factor in location selection.

The permits to film at scenic El Matador state beach were received the morning of the shoot, barely keeping the production out of Barkan and Zehentner's garage.

Shooting was nearly cancelled due to location conflicts with The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (2004).

A garden hose is visible when Peter teaches the zombie how to carry a log.

After Peter unties the zombie, the California coastline stretches for miles, ruining the illusion of a deserted island.
