The name of the award Claire is hoping to win, the Andrew Q. Trilling Award, is derived from a blend of the first and last names of the two screenwriters, Andrew Liotta and Lawrence Trilling.

There are two death scenes involving someone falling from a significant height: The 12th Ave. Bridge and the roof of UW library. The same mannequin was used for both scenes. After being shattered to hundreds of pieces in the first scene filmed, it was painstakingly glued back together piece by piece for the second plummeting death scene.

During filming of the scene where Will is leaving Davinci's to deliver a pizza and Reed is preparing to follow him, there was a house adjacent to the parking lot where a woman was watching the filming with her head out the window. The crew asked if she could be duck her head back in during filming. The woman demanded compensation for doing so, as it was a hot day and she did not have air conditioning. She was not compensated.
