The movie ends with the implication that Lefty was killed after being "sent for". In real life, the FBI intercepted Lefty on the way to being killed, and arrested him. Sonny Black was "sent for" and murdered; his body was found on Staten Island a year later. Joe Massino, who orchestrated his murder, was convicted in 2005. Lefty was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder, extortion, distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, and running an illegal gambling operation. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison, but received early parole in 1992 after it he was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. He died in 1994.

Q
What are the differences between the Theatrical Version and the Extended Cut?
A
Also Mike Newell's mafia-drama was recently released as an Extended version, until now, exclusively in the USA. As almost common with Sony-releases, several deleted scenes were reintegrated. Just that would not be that exciting, but there are also several scenes, which have never been seen before and which are not only for the plot, but also reveal further bloody details. How much the movie actually profits from that, is something, that everybody has to know for themselves. A detailed comparison between both versions can be found here.
Q
What is the first song during the opening credits?
A
'A Stranger on Earth' by Dinah Washington. The rest of the songs in the Donnie Brasco soundtrack can be found here with scene descriptions.
