Lakemba Auto World is not real. It was created to mock the ABC's restrictions of advertising and promoting products and companies in shows on their network. The two salesmen promoting L.A.W. in the fake commercial are played by Craig Anderson's father and uncle

Doug Bayne originally wanted to name his character "James Wenham", but the group decided on Mephisto. As an in joke, Mephisto's credit is replaced by James Wenham in the closing credits of Episode 7.

Steve Foxx: [voice-over with scenes of people and places in Kiama] We're at the seaside town of Kiama, which is about 70 minutes drive south of Sydney. A popular site for family picnics, art 'n' craft fairs, and outdoor puppet-shows, which makes it one of the weakest towns on the eastern seaboard. Little surprise, then, that Kiama is the home of abseiling.
