When Tripp is talking to the couple about power vs. sail boats, the coffee cups they hold give away one of the movie's shooting locations, New Orleans. CC's coffee houses are only found in Louisiana, at least as of 2006.
During a sailing scene, a discussion involving nautical terms refers to turning a sailboat as "jibing" and "coming about" which is in part incorrect. Rather, this discussion should describe the two ways to come about: a "jibe" which is a downwind turn and a "tack" which is an upwind turn.
When Tripp is grabbed off his surfboard by the dolphin, he is pulled to his right, meaning the dolphin grabbed his right foot; however, in the next scene, he is shown being pulled along by his left ankle.
Some shots of the surveillance video have "TCG" plus numbers at the bottom of the screen. TCG stands for "time code generator" and is only created in post production, as in an editing program. It would never appear as live video. From the format, it appears to be generated by the Final Cut Pro NLE software.
