Goofs
The Chinese characters for "Blue Sun" change from throughout the series. On Jayne's T-shirt, "Blue Sun" is Qing Ri, but in logo signs, it's Lan Ri. In ancient China, as well as Japan, green and blue were seen as different shades of the same color. The character Qing was used to represent both green and blue. In modern China, Lan is the character used for blue.

Agent McGuinness: I'm only doing my job.

Shepherd Book: [Regarding Mal's new "wife"] If you take sexual advantage of her, you're going to burn in a very special level of hell. A level they reserve for child molesters. And people who talk at the theatre.

opening song: Take my love, take my land / Take me where I cannot stand / I don't care, I'm still free / You can't take the sky from me / Take me out to the black / Tell 'em I ain't comin' back / Burn the land and boil the sea / You can't take the sky from me / There's no place I can be / Since I found serenity / But you can't take the sky from me 40 of 40 found this interesting Interesting? Some rich and flush with the new technologies, some not so much. The Central Planets, thems formed the Alliance, waged war to bring everyone under their rule; a few idiots tried to fight it, among them myself. I'm Malcolm Reynolds, captain of Serenity. She's a transport ship; Firefly class. Got a good crew: fighters, pilot, mechanic. We even picked up a preacher for some reason, and a bona fide companion. There's a doctor, too, took his genius sister outta some Alliance camp, so they're keepin' a low profile. You understand. You got a job, we can do it, don't much care what it is.

Q
Do all Joss Whedon creations take place in the same reality?
A
It's possible, Buffy/Angel and 'Cabin in the Woods' all feature otherworldly threats, secret government organisations (The Initiative trying to exploit them, The Conspiracy trying to appease them and Shield trying to combat them). Humanity may have left Earth to establish the Firefly/Serenity colonies after the 'Cabin in the Woods'/Dollhouse apocalypses and this would explain Paris being in ruins at the end of Alien; Resurrection
Q
What is a Browncoat?
A
The term "Browncoat" was used in the episode "The Train Job" to refer to soldiers of the resistance who fought against the Alliance and lost. Devoted fans of Firefly adopted the moniker, seeing a parallel between the Browncoats' loss against the Alliance and their own defeat when Fox cancelled the series.
