After the first few epsiodes, the characters of Lucia and Sister Brenda Trogman were phased out and eventually cut out, to simplify the ensemble.

Heather Locklear was originally offered the role of Victoria Hill, much like her Caitlin Moore role on Spin City (1996) for the second season of Good Morning, Miami (2002). She said she liked the show, but turned down the role. The part was then given to Tiffani Thiessen.

The "Good Morning, Miami" morning news-show format itself was inspired by Max and David Kohan's personal experience producing a morning talk-show called "Mike & Matty".

In the first season finale, the yellow clipboard Dylan holds in the first few minutes jumps from her hands to her bag during her talk with Jake.

Gavin Stone: You're my girlfriend.

Sister Brenda: If we're talking in religious terms.

Jake: Yeah, well some girl named Penny was supposed to pick me up at the airport.
