Trivia
The scene where Michael Myers drives a car while wearing a different kind of mask was initially scripted to have him wear a Ronald Reagan mask. However, the idea of a Reagan mask was soon rejected in order to keep the film devoid of any political subtexts.

The Jamie Lloyd character has a striking parallel to the Tommy Jarvis character from the Friday the 13th series. Both characters appeared in the fourth, fifth and sixth films of their respective series. They were both about the same age in their first appearance. They both become institutionalized and develop homicidal tendencies themselves after the killer. In this film, Jamie starts out as a mute. In the fifth Friday the 13th, Tommy rarely speaks. At the end of that film, Tommy is seen holding a knife and essentially becomes Jason. At the end of the previous Halloween, Jamie is seen holding a pair of scissors and she essentially becomes Michael.

Moustapha Akkad has said that one of his biggest regrets about the film was killing off the character of Rachel Carruthers. In retrospect, he would've kept her alive, but she was killed in an attempt to show that no one, not even Rachel, was safe from Michael.

Goofs
Sheriff Meeker, calls himself "Sergeant Meeker" on the radio (not really the sort of mistake the character would make).

When Loomis and Meeker are talking down at the station, Loomis recalls the events of the first movie saying "my memory goes back 12 years." Since Halloween 5 is set in 1989 and the events of the first movie were in 1978, he should have said "11 years."

Q
Remind me of how 'Halloween 4' ended.
A
As Rachel talks with the police, Jamie wanders over to Michael's lifeless body. She takes his hand in hers but drops it when Rachel and Sheriff Meeker (Beau Starr) yell to her not to touch him. As Jamie begins to walk away from his body, Michael suddenly clutches his knife and begins to stand up. The police open fire on him, their shots sending him reeling backwards until he falls into an old mine shaft which collapses on top of him. Meeker takes Jamie and Rachel home where they are joined by Dr Loomis, who assures them that it's over and that Michael is in hell where he belongs. While Rachel rests on the couch, Darlene (Karen Alston) takes Jamie upstairs and begins to run bath water. She lays out some towels and bends over to test the water as someone looks at her through the eyes of a mask. The masked eyes move down the corridor, causing Darlene to look up and scream. Loomis hears the screams and rushes up the stairs to find Jamie standing at the top in her mask and clown suit, a pair of bloody scissors in her right hand. Loomis screams, 'No! No!' several times and raises his gun, but Meeker stops him from shooting. In the final scene, Loomis, Meeker, Rachel, and her dad (Jeff Olson) stare in horror as Jamie raises the scissors.
