This was Harrison Ford's second World War II movie in only a year as he had appeared in Force 10 from Navarone (1978). Ford would face the Nazis again in Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989). Ford has never done a World War II feature film where the Japanese are the enemy, only the Nazis.

In the movie, Lesley-Anne Down rushed out of a Piccadilly line tube station called "Hanover Street". In real life there was no such "Hanover Street Station", at least at the time the movie was set. The nearest train station to Hanover Street today is the "Oxford Circus Tube".

Goofs
When making the first bomb run in the B-25, and the right engine was hit and "feathered", the aircraft remained in formation at the same speed. Loss of an engine makes this an impossibility due to the loss of thrust.
