Amnesty International USA was highly critical of the film's satirical depiction of the Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp, commenting on their website that "Guantanamo is no joke." The organization's membership was encouraged to hand out fliers and fact sheets at theatrical screenings to bring attention to the alleged human rights abuses that have occurred at the camp.

Goofs
As Harold and Kumar drive Neil Patrick Harris' car through Alabama, the license plates on the car clearly read "Virginia", but for one scene as they enter Texas, the license plates read "Texas". Then, later they are back to "Virginia".

Maria's hand changes position on Harold's face when they meet in Amsterdam. It changes from being on his face, to on his shoulder, and disappears.

About midway through the movie, before Harold and Kumar spot the the two KKK members in the forest and right after Kumar's fantasy sex scene, when they are walking through the dark forest, you can see something metallic clearly reflecting light in the background in the woods as the camera pans sideways following the two actors. The shiny object looks like it might be a mirror of a car, since it is above the ground.

Quotes
Kumar Patel: [reciting the poem 'The Square Root of 3'] I fear that I will always be / A lonely number like root three / A three is all that's good and right, / Why must my three keep out of sight / Beneath a vicious square root sign, / I wish instead I were a nine / For nine could thwart this evil trick, / with just some quick arithmetic / I know I'll never see the sun, as 1.7321 / Such is my reality, a sad irrationality / When hark! What is this I see, / Another square root of a three / Has quietly come waltzing by, / Together now we multiply / To form a number we prefer, / Rejoicing as an integer / We break free from our mortal bonds / And with a wave of magic wands / Our square root signs become unglued / And love for me has been renewed.

A
Q
How does the movie end?
A
After being sucked out the door of the airplane back to Guantanamo, Harold and Kumar crash through the roof of President George W. Bush (James Adomian). After smoking some weed together, the boys tell the President about their predicament, and he pardons them. Escorted by three Secret Service agents, Harold and Kumar attend Vanessa's wedding. Colton confronts Kumar, but Harold punches him. Upset with Kumar for embarrassing her at her wedding, Vanessa walks away, until Kumar begins to recite the poem he was writing when they first met in the school library. Vanessa and Kumar kiss and make up. The three of them then fly to Amsterdam where Harold interrupts Maria during a photo shoot, and the four of them go off together to smoke. In the final scene, Neil Patrick Harris is shown getting up from the lawn, having survived two shotgun blasts to his back.
