Imelda Staunton was the producer's only choice for the role of Umbridge. She and costume designer Jany Temime came up with the idea of making her dress more padded and more saturated as the film progresses. The novel describes her being physically chubby and like a toad.

During the O.W.L. examination proctored by Dolores Umbridge, the large clock pendulum in the background fails to swing with uniformity between shots.

In Professor Umbridge's first class, she gives them all books, then proceeds to tell the class what to expect. During her speech, several of the students's books - particularly Ron's - switch positions from being examined by the students to being flat on the desk. The position of the books repeatedly switches positions as the camera angles switch.

During Harry's trial, Fudge pronounces the name of the court as the "Wizenagamot"; the real name being the "Wizengamot". This could be intentional, to further underline Fudge's incompetence as Minister.

Warwick Davis plays Professor Flitwick in the movies, but why was his character changed to a chorus teacher in/after the third movie?
He doubled as both. The producers wanted to keep Warwick Davis as a permanent cast member in the movies, even though his character Professor Flitwick was not scheduled to appear again after the first two movies. They gave Davis a part as choir conducter (although the school choir does not appear in any of the books, only this film and the third film, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and it is mentioned in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince). For the remainder of the series, this choir conducter was simply credited as Professor Flitwick, without an explanation as to why his appearance in the movies changed. This wasn't a big issue, however, since Professor Dumbledore, the Whomping Willow, and the location of Hagrid's hut had also been changed for the third movie.
What is 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix' about?
Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint), and Hermoine Granger (Emma Watson) return for their fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Having warned the school about the return of Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes), which the Ministry of Magic has declared to be a lie, Harry is not surprised to find that a new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, Dolores Umbridge (Imelda Staunton), has been assigned to the school and that it is her aim to seize power at Hogwarts, get rid of headmaster Dumbledore (Michael Gambon), and squelch all rumors of Voldemort's return. Consequently, Harry is charged with secretly teaching the students how to defend themselves...even if it goes against the rules.
