In mid 2012, Ron Perlman once again endured the 4-hour makeup routine required to transform him into Hellboy - not for a sequel or other acting job but to fulfill the Make-A-Wish request of a six-year-old boy named Zachary who has leukemia. Creature effects house Spectral Motion, who had worked on the two previous Hellboy films, applied Perlman's Hellboy makeup (and later, also made up Zachary as Hellboy as well), so that Zachary could spend the day hanging out with his favorite superhero. Guillermo del Toro was so touched by this event that it inspired him to start production on Hellboy 3.

It has been rumored, but as of right now it's unconfirm if he'll reprise the role.

What will this movie be about?

In the past Del Toro did had an interest of having Hellboy fighting the Universal Classic Monsters, that is if this movie will be produced by Universal like the last one. While the direct to video animated short Zinco Epilogue suggested that the third one will be about Zinco being the main villian and revives Rasputain & Kroenen(both previously appeared in the first movie).During an interview at the 2012 New York Comic Con, Del Toro hinted that the plot will be about Hellboy becoming the Beast of The Apocalypse.As of right now, the plot of the third movie hasn't been finalized yet until Del Toro annouces it or a teaser trailer is released.

Will Hellboy's children be in this installment?

Most likely, it's uncertain how big of a role they will receive in the film.
