The film was shot with the then-new Panasonic HPX500, and background plates were taken with a Nikon D200, Canon 60D and even an iPhone 4S.

The entire film was shot in front of a green screen, except the part when Jordan is on the floor of the elevator.

Hellevator was born from Heath McKnight wishing to work with comics legend David Michelinie. He asked David to write a simple short film, and David delivered the script.
