THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS SPOILERSAfter studying Sambo (an acronym for a Russian expression meaning 'Self-defense Without Weapons'), co-host Bill Duff fought Alibekov Asiyatilo, a 6-foot-4-inch, 225-pound youth with only six major fights under his belt. Because Asiyatilo was handpicked by Fedor Emelianenko, a widely-known Sambo champion, Duff could not help expecting that Asiyatilo, despite his seeming inexperience, would prove to be a formidable opponent; however, Duff defeated Asiyatilo 9 to 0. 'Concerning my technique', said Asiyatilo through a translator, 'you have to ask my coach'. Duff reacted with spontaneous sympathy: 'Thats when you know your coach is pissed off at you, when they say, "Ask the coach". I've been there, brother'.In South Korea, the co-hosts, Duff and Jason Chambers, took turns fighting Professor Taek Yong Kwak, who actually earned a Ph.D. in Taekwondo, a martial art that relies heavily on kicks. Kwak engaged each of his challengers in two ninety-second rounds. First, Kwak defeated Duff 12 to 1. During the last ten seconds of their second round, Kwak delivered a spinning kick to Duff's head, knocking the large American unconscious for several seconds.Kwak then fought Chambers, who is smaller than Duff but more experienced in martial arts; yet Kwak defeated Chambers 1 to 0, winning the first and only point of the match in the first thirty seconds. The round--and the entire match--ended after Chambers tried a tornado kick--a technique he had just learned. Not only did he not connect, but when his foot came down on the mat, he felt something pop in his right knee. In spite of the pain, he tried to continue the match, but as soon as Chambers hopped backward to avoid Kwak's renewed attack, the pain in his knee became excruciating. Chambers fell off of the mat and writhed on the floor. 'He's done! He's done!' called Duff. In about forty seconds, Kwak had defeated Chambers with very little effort.
