The use of the color red in many frames was merely a whim by cinematographer Murlitharan. He thought it would add a nice edgy, pastiche touch to the movie. For the sequence introducing the character of Vinay Pathak, they couldn't find a suitable "red" prop and used tomatoes in the background.

As per the director's commentary on the DVD, they did not script the actions of Niel Nitin Mukesh in the scene immediately after he kills Seshadri. To maintain the nervous energy of the scene, the director shouted instructions at Niel (like, pick up the keys, hide the gun, clean the glass, run, now walk to the sofa... and so on).
