The first song that the girls sang onstage as a group was a version of The Beatles' "I'm Happy Just To Dance With You".

The Catholic school at which Coach Lubbock works is St. Augustine's. The team he coaches is called the "St. Augie's Hippos." The St. Augustine that is famous for writing The Confessions and The City of God is known as St. Augustine of Hippo, the town in North Africa in which he was bishop.

The opening sequence is intended to portray the family's cross-country move from New York City to California. However, in the St. Louis shot, the camera is facing south with the Gateway Arch in the center. As the vehicle moves toward the camera, it pans left and reveals more of the Mississippi River...which clearly shows the family driving east of St. Louis, not west.

In a kitchen scene in one episode, JR calls Sherry "Heidi" - her real life name.

Elizabeth: I don't even know my own daughter!
