In 1990, Rakesh Roshan was contemplating signing Kimi Katkar opposite Amitabh Bachchan for his new project. Later, he dropped the idea of signing Katkar and penciled Sangeeta Bijlani and Ashwini Bhave for the role. The film with Bachchan never got made, but Roshan Sr. did go ahead with the project and signed Jackie Shroff instead. It was later titled KING UNCLE.
