There had been speculation as to whether or not Helena Bonham Carter would take on the role of Miss Peregrine, due to her very interesting approach to dark roles, her look, and her collaboration with partner and director, Tim Burton. However, Carter and Burton parted ways before filming began.

While Bomber-Hurley Smith is listed as "Creature," the "creatures" are actually known as Hollows in the book. Jacob Portman and his deceased grandfather have the peculiar ability to see and remotely detect Hollows.

This marks the second collaboration between actress Eva Green and director Tim Burton. Long before their first collaboration, Green stated that Burton was one of the directors she dreamed of working with.
