Whilst applying for the job as director, Kevin Connor showed the Jaffe Brothers his first film, the horror movie From Beyond the Grave (1974), and after this got to see the script for "Motel Hell".
Publicity for this picture stated that it was the first major role in a motion picture in quite a while for lead actor Rory Calhoun. Calhoun was around fifty-seven years old when he starred in this movie.
In the picnic in the graveyard scene, Vincent punches Ida on her side under her right breast but she immediately bends over and grabs the center of her stomach.
The events in the film take place in the summertime according to Boris' makeshift headstone, but the two young ladies that encounter the fake cows are dressed in winter clothing, are talking about a ski instructor, and have skis on the roof of the car, implying it takes place during winter.
What are the differences between the old BBFC X Version and the Uncut Version?
A
In Great Britain the movie was released on tape in the early 1980s and was rated X, what said the movie was not suitable for youth below 18. Until 1982 the X certificate existed and was replaced by the 18 certificate of the BBFC. This X Rated Version was slightly censord, missing approx. 2 seconds of footage. Later on an uncensored DVD Version was released as well and a detailed comparison between both versions with pictures can be found here.
