Co-writer Robin Driscoll made numerous appearances in the series as various different characters. He was the cinema manager in Mr. Bean: The Return of Mr. Bean (1990), the police sergeant in Mr. Bean: Mr. Bean Goes to Town (1991), the man in queue in Mr. Bean: Merry Christmas Mr. Bean (1992), the man buying tokens in Mr. Bean: Mind the Baby, Mr. Bean (1994), the ticket inspector in Mr. Bean: Hair by Mr. Bean of London (1995) and the blind man in Mr. Bean: The Bus Stop (1995).

At the beginning of Episode Two onwards, Mr. Bean falls from the sky in a beam of light, accompanied by a choir singing "Ecce homo qui est faba" (Behold the man who is a bean). These opening sequences were initially in black and white in episodes 2 and 3 and were intended by the producers to show his status as an "ordinary man cast into the spotlight". However, later episodes showed Mr. Bean dropping from the night sky in a deserted London street, against the backdrop of St. Paul's Cathedral. Atkinson himself has acknowledged that Bean has "a slightly alien aspect to him"; in the animated series, he is shown to be an alien.

Who is the driver of the blue, 3-wheeled car and why does Bean have so many run-ins with the car?

The identity of the driver in the blue 3-wheeled car is unknown but the car's numerous appearances on the show and Bean's competitive rivalry towards it is a running gag throughout the series. In the pilot episode, Bean steals the blue 3-wheeled car's parking space by rudely pushing the car out of its parking space using his own car. The rivalry between Bean and the blue 3-wheeled car seems to be hugely interpreted by only Bean himself as other driver never takes any offensive initiatives against Bean. (In fact, in one episode, the unseen driver of the blue car actually offers to give a stranded Bean a ride but Bean rudely ignores him.)

What is Mr. Bean's first name?

Mr. Bean's first name is never mentioned in the regular television series. In a Mr. Bean Comic Relief UK skit titled "Blind Date", Mr. Bean is asked what his first name is to which he replies "Mister" (ie: Mister/Mr. Bean). In the 2007 film "Mr. Bean's Holiday", Mr. Bean's full name is finally revealed on his passport as being "Rowan Bean"
