In 2010 a memorial has been made round of the tree which The Girl and Kyun-woo buries a time capsule under it. The memorial is called Time Capsule Park, and it's made because of the 10th anniversary of the film. The exact coordinates of Time Capsule Park are (37° 12' 05.60" N, 128° 41' 19.50" E).
The exact coordinates of where The Girl and Kyun-woo yells at each other on hills are: The Girl: (35° 18' 48.75" N, 128° 58' 48.75" E) Kyun-woo: (35° 18' 17.75" N, 128° 59' 45.75" E)
The name Kyun-woo comes from the Chinese story of Qi Xi (Chilseok in Korean), when the Cowherd (Gyeon-wu) and and the Weaver Girl (Jiknyeo) of the heavens are united for only one night every year.
The deserter is carrying a Daewoo K2 assault rifle when he takes Kyun-woo and the girl hostage, but at the merry-go-round he suddenly has a Colt M4. While the girl is talking to him, the M4 is briefly replaced by a Colt M16.
The girl's hair is tucked behind her right ear during and immediately after her piano performance, but when Kyun-woo gives her the flowers her hair is hanging loose.
What are the differences between the Theatrical Version and the Director's Cut?
A
The Director's Cut of this Korean masterpiece runs approx. 14 minutes longer than the Theatrical Version and features some relevant scenes, missing in the Theatrical Version. Especially the balcony scene towards the end (and the scenes referring to that scene) should not have been cut out of the Theatrical Version. A detailed comparison between both versions with pictures can be found here.
