The camera Ray Cutler uses to photograph wife Polly at the overlook is an Argus C3, on of the most popular cameras produced between 1939-1966, and would have been in common use by visitors to Niagara Falls during this period.

Jean Peters got the role of Polly Cutler after Anne Baxter withdrew. After her withdrawal, the film was reworked to highlight Marilyn Monroe.

Curiously, the trailer for this Technicolor production was in black-and-white.

The opening shot looks south along the crest of the American Falls. We learn a moment later that it is supposed to be 5 am; if the sun is up at all it should be very low in the east. The actual light on the Falls is from a rather higher angle.

When George Loomis breaks the record at the dance party, he promptly returns to his room, Cabin B, where he opens the door revealing a blank wall about 3-4 feet inside the doorway.

As Polly is being lifted into the helicopter, the seat belt on the lift appears, disappears and reappears between shots.

George Loomis: Too bad, they can't play it for you now, Rose.

George Loomis: Let me tell you something. You're young, you're in love. Well, I'll give you a warning. Don't let it get out of hand, like those falls out there. Up above... d'you ever see the river up above the falls? It's calm, and easy, and you throw in a log, it just floats around. Let it move a little further down and it gets going faster, hits some rocks, and... in a minute it's in the lower rapids, and... nothing in the world - including God himself, I suppose - can keep it from going over the edge. It just - goes.

Polly Cutler: Fine thing. I tell him we're on our honeymoon and you drag out a copy of Winston Churchill! He must think I'm a pretty hard article.
