At the end of episode "Crouch End", the escaping couple see/hear names of creatures from H.P. Lovecraft, as Cthulu Kryon, Yogsoggoth, R'yeleh, Nrtesn nyarlahotep, Whistler from the Stars, Blind Piper, The Goat with a Thousand Young. Most of them from the writer's Cthulhu-myth.

In the short story "Umney's Last Case", Sam Landry's son falls off a swing and hits his head. In the TV adaptation, his son drowns in the pool.

In the chapter "The Road Virus Heads North", the writer Richard Kinnel seems to be himself a fan of Stephen King, as when he is running away from the ghost in his house, we can see on the floor two of King's books, "Pet Sematary" and "Tommyknockers" (42'00").

In "Crouch End" the registration plate of the London taxi that took the Freemans to Crouch End was "LN58 WIN" the "58" plate will not appear on UK vehicles until September 1st 2008 .

In "Autopsy room 4" when the doctors are getting ready to perform the autopsy,the insert a rectal thermometer in order to check temperature, in the moment they insert it, the character open his eyes a bit more.. again, this would be impossible since he is supposed to be unable to move at all.

The package that arrives in "Battleground" has San Francisco misspelled.
