The role of "Abusive Husband" was originally going to be played by George Isaacs. However, Andra Fuller had to leave the project and this left an opening in the lead role. The producers' first thought was to call in an old friend, J. Darryl Williams, who had starred in the original 6 min demo of the show. However, George was also interested in the role. There was a mini casting session, and the lead role was eventually awarded to George. J. Darryl then took George's role as "Abusive Husband".

A six minute demo of the show was produced to explain the concept to interested networks. Metro TV like the demo and asked for the show to be produced as a one hour special.
