Several of Syd Dutton's matte paintings were later reused in the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

During the opening titles, can be seen briefly some images of Imar, Thel's capital. In true, the images are negatived pictures of New York City (the Twin Towers can be appreciated in the distance as well as Brooklyn's Bridge).

In Thel's world there are two moons in its night sky, a big white moon and other smaller red moon.
