Luis Guzmán originally had the role of Charlie Lincoln, but after the pilot was shot, he was replaced by Malik Yoba. NBC then asked that the producers re-shoot the scenes in which he appeared.

The script for the eighth installation, entitled "Every Picture Tells a Story" was written but never filmed, because of the cancellation. This would have been episode production number 108.

Mykelti Williamson appears in the pilot episode in a cameo role as Detective Bobby 'Fearless' Smith, a role he originated on the 2002-03 NBC-TV series Boomtown. Like Raines, Boomtown was created by Graham Yost, and was set in Los Angeles.

When the opening sequence begins the keypad on the door of Raines' car is missing but at the end of the sequence it is back on the door.
