The filmmakers used a real bushmen tribe and Regopstaan was their 95 years old leader who only agreed to play in the movie if his tribe can follow him everywhere.
Production was first set in Swaziland, sets were built, cast & crew were already on location when they were denied the rights to film and had to find a another location, which will be Namibia.
During the first chase scene, a Russian soldier fires an RPG (rocket propelled grenade) at a truck. The soldier fires the weapon even though there is clearly no rocket inserted in the launcher.
When Lt. Nikolai Rachenko is lifting the truck out of the ground in the final battle be props his gun up leaning on the truck. As he lifts, you can notice the gun sliding off; and in the next shot, its back standing up.

In various countries, such as the US, Great Britain, Germany, Hong Kong, Russia et. al. only the R-rated version of the film has been released on DVD so far. The Unrated Version was released on DVD in France. The old UK VHS also contains the unrated version. This Version runs approx two and a half minutes longer than the R-Rated cut.
