QDoes this movie take place in Rio de Janeiro?
ANot entirely. Although the first 21% of the movie takes place in Rio, the remaining 79% takes place in the Amazon jungle.
QAre the chicks different compared to the first film?
ABlu and Jewel's offspring in the first Rio were composed of two male and one female, however if looked carefully, one "male" seems to have a different eye color, possibly hinting that it is actually female. In the sequel, the offspring (now composed of two female and one male) are shown to have aged by weeks to very few months, showing their new physical appearances that seem to reflect both their gender and personalities. Newborns can be at times difficult to tell its sex apart, but as they get older, they develop traits that are common among males and females.
