The rock band Led Zeppelin are notoriously hesitant to allow their music to be licensed for commercial purposes. Knowing this, Richard Linklater filmed a plea by actor Jack Black in front of 1,000 screaming fans, imploring the band to let the production use the "Immigrant Song" in the movie. The plea worked and the filmed request is included on the DVD.

When Dewey speaks to the battle of the band director, in one shot Summer is looking towards the director, in the next she is looking towards the band (just prior to Dewey throwing the chair).

Following School of Rock's performance at the Battle of the Bands, Miss Mullins is stopped by security and then allowed access backstage by claiming, "I am principal of the school's band." In reality, she is principal of the band's school.
