Even though the production of the show went on continuously between season 3 and season 4, it had a year hiatus from airing when it was dropped by Fox and picked up by Sci-Fi, making the airing years (1995-1997, 1998-2000). The special effects in the fourth season take a very noticeable dive in quality, as the series had just been canceled by Fox before being resurrected by the Sci-Fi Channel, which left the show with an overall lower production budget.

Jerry O'Connell (Quinn) wrote an episode treatment entitled "Narcotica", which took place on an Earth where drugs had been legalized. The story was rejected by the network for being "too dark", but later found life as a 'Sliders' comic book.

It was intended that the series would return for a sixth season, which is why the show ended on a cliffhanger.

In season one "The King is back" Rembrandt is on stage when the other Rembrandt joins him there, telling the audience that "our" Rembrandt is only an impersonator. Therefore Rembrandt leaves the stage and is welcomed by his friends backstage. The next shot is showing the stage from the front again and there you can still see "our" Rembrandt in the background, still on stage.

When the vortex is created (to enter) it is often shown sucking things into it (usually for plot purposes) yet it is also often shown blowing their hair, debris, etc. away before they jump/slide.

Quinn Mallory: [season two opening monologue] What if you could travel to parallel worlds? The same year, the same Earth, only different dimensions. A world where the Russians rule America... or where your dreams of being superstar came true... or where San Francisco was a maximum-security prison. My friends and I found the gateway. Now the problem is... finding a way back home.
